Short, because there isn't much to say. You bought an app that talks to hardware you own. Here is what that does and does not promise.
This app opens a physical door
That is worth saying plainly. A garage door is heavy machinery. Use the app only with an opener that has working safety features, a functioning photo-eye and auto-reverse, installed and maintained to its manufacturer's instructions and your local rules. Never operate the door when you cannot see that it is clear. Do not rely on the app, the sensor or the notifications as a safety device: they tell you what the sensor reported, which is not the same as a guarantee about what is under the door.
The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage, injury or loss arising from the door operating, failing to operate, or reporting a state that turns out to be wrong.
Your hardware and your network are yours
You are responsible for your UniFi Protect console, your relay wiring, your sensor, your network and the credentials you create. If you expose your bridge to the internet, how you do that is your decision and your responsibility. Our guidance is here, and it is guidance, not a guarantee.
The self-hosted bridge
The bridge is software you run on your own machine. You choose the version, you keep it updated, you hold its tokens. It is offered on the same as-is basis as the app. Support for self-hosted setups is best effort. See Support for what that means in practice.
The cloud-alerts service
garage-alerts.liqpil.com is a small free service run on a hobby budget. It is best
effort: no uptime commitment, no delivery guarantee, and it may be rate-limited, changed or
discontinued. Notifications can be late or lost for reasons entirely outside it: your console not
sending a webhook, Apple's push service, a phone with no signal.
Do not use it as the only thing standing between your garage and being left open. It is a helpful reminder, not a monitoring system.
Abuse of the service, whether flooding it, trying to reach other people's installs, or using it for anything other than a garage door you own, will get your install blocked. What it stores is here.
